Advanced Injury Evaluation, Objective Diagnostics, and Functional Recovery

At Optimus Injury Treatment Center, we specialize in the evaluation, treatment, and documentation of injuries related to motor vehicle accidents, work injuries, and complex musculoskeletal and neurologic conditions. Located in Dover, Delaware, our center was intentionally built to go beyond traditional chiropractic care—integrating advanced diagnostics, functional rehabilitation, and evidence-based treatment under one roof.

Our mission is simple: to provide injured patients with clear answers, objective findings, and a structured path back to function, while delivering the level of clinical rigor and documentation required in modern medical and legal environments.

Who We Serve

We provide care for:

  • Patients injured in auto accidents
  • Individuals with chronic or unresolved pain
  • Patients with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) of all severities
  • Patients with post-traumatic cognitive, neurologic, and functional impairments
  • Patients who have failed to improve with standard physical therapy
  • Referrals from attorneys, physicians, and other healthcare providers

Optimus Injury Treatment Center functions as a true one-stop center for follow-up injury care, coordinating clinical treatment, advanced diagnostics, and reporting in a single setting.

Clinical Leadership & Experience

Clinical leadership is provided by Dr. Robert Buckley, DACRB, a nationally distinguished injury-focused clinician with more than 35 years of active clinical experience.

Dr. Buckley has been in practice since 1989 and has devoted his career to treating complex post-traumatic injuries involving the spine, extremities, and nervous system. Unlike many providers whose education ends at licensure, he continues to pursue advanced postgraduate degrees, certifications, and ongoing education to remain aligned with the latest peer-reviewed research, evolving diagnostic technologies, and evidence-based rehabilitation standards.

He is among a small percentage of chiropractors nationwide to hold multiple advanced diplomate-level postgraduate credentials, reflecting a depth and breadth of expertise that extends well beyond general chiropractic practice.

Dr. Buckley is also one of only a handful of chiropractors to have ever been granted hospital privileges in the state of Pennsylvania and previously served as Director of Chiropractic Education at Cooper Hospital Center City Philadelphia.

Advanced Postgraduate Degrees & Certifications

Dr. Buckley’s advanced education and credentials include:

  • Diplomate, American Chiropractic Rehabilitation Board (DACRB)
Advanced postgraduate specialization in functional rehabilitation and post-traumatic injury care.
  • Diplomate in Sports Injury & Sports Medicine (DACBSP)
Postgraduate specialization in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports and traumatic injuries.
  • Electrodiagnostic Certification
Needle Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) studies for objective nerve and muscle injury evaluation.
  • CNS Vital Signs Certification (Including Interpretation)
Computerized neurocognitive testing for traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic cognitive impairment.
  • Functional Movement Screening (FMS)
Objective assessment of movement dysfunction, mobility limitations, and stability deficits.
  • Postgraduate Training in Physical Medicine & Functional Rehabilitation
Evidence-based protocols for restoring function following injury.
  • Advanced Training in Acupuncture and Dry Needling
Adjunctive neuromusculoskeletal pain management and functional recovery.

This combination of credentials places Dr. Buckley among a very small subset of chiropractors who have completed advanced postgraduate specialization in more than one recognized area of clinical focus.

Coordinated, Multidisciplinary Care

Injury recovery is often multifaceted. When clinically appropriate, Optimus Injury Treatment Center coordinates referrals to trusted healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care.

This includes referrals for:

  • Mental health counseling and psychological support when emotional, cognitive, or trauma-related factors impact recovery
  • Orthopedic consultation for suspected structural injury or surgical evaluation
  • Neurology and other medical specialties for advanced neurologic assessment
  • Pain management and interventional care when indicated
  • Advanced imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI) through established local imaging partners

All referrals are carefully coordinated and documented to support continuity of care and clear inter-provider communication.

More Than Traditional Chiropractic Care

While spinal manipulation remains an important therapeutic tool, it is only one component of what we do.

Care at Optimus Injury Treatment Center is driven by objective findings, functional deficits, and measurable outcomes, not assumptions. Our services include:

  • Comprehensive chiropractic care
  • Functional rehabilitation and corrective exercise
  • Acupuncture and dry needling
  • Functional Movement Screening (FMS)
  • Needle EMG and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCV)
  • CNS Vital Signs cognitive testing for traumatic brain injury
  • Contrast Oxygen Therapy and advanced neuro-supportive modalities
  • Periodic re-evaluations with documented outcome tracking

We do not perform X-rays on site. When advanced imaging such as X-ray, CT, or MRI is clinically indicated, referrals are coordinated with trusted imaging centers.

Objective Documentation That Matters

A defining feature of Optimus Injury Treatment Center is our commitment to clear, defensible medical documentation, particularly for traumatic brain injury and complex trauma cases.

Our evaluations and reports are grounded in:

  • Objective diagnostic testing
  • Functional and neurologic findings
  • Established medical literature
  • Clear causation analysis when appropriate

We work collaboratively with attorneys and referring providers to ensure that clinical findings accurately reflect the patient’s functional limitations, especially in cases where traditional imaging may appear normal.

A Patient-Centered Philosophy

We believe injured patients are not simply a collection of injured parts, but complex, interconnected systems where pain, movement, cognition, neurologic function, and emotional health all influence recovery.

From the first visit forward, our team emphasizes:

  • Clear communication
  • Patient education
  • Individualized treatment planning
  • Respect and transparency

Every patient is treated with the goal of restoring function, documenting progress, and supporting long-term recovery.
